Just a few pics

Not much has happened since the last post so I'll just add a few pictures.

Max working at his computer

Santa brought Max a "computer" for Christmas at our request.  We had hoped that it would deter him from wanting to use Mommy and Daddy's.  The decoy sometimes works, especially when we set it up on his desk and have him sit like a big boy in his special chair.  I set up his computer in the living room this morning but, instead of playing with it, he went into his bedroom and sat in his chair (as if to say, "Not there, Mommy.  Here").  He immediately began typing away when I put it on the desk in front of him.

The graphics on this computer are a bit like the old Apple "green screens."  I wonder when he will notice that his laptop is an inferior model. :-)

A Happy Oreo Smile

Max had the pleasure, once again, while Grandpa Morse was here, to eat Oreos.  It's amazing how, instinctually, he pulled the two halves apart and licked out the creme filling.  After the grandparents left, we introduced him to dunking an Oreo in milk before eating it.  Tim and I were a bit suspicious about how quickly he caught on.  Grandpa?!  Anyway, he made such a terrific mess of his face, due to the technique that he utilised to eat the quarter of the gooey oreo stuck to the palm of his hand.  It seemed to be more of a smearing gesture than a licking one.

Max drinking a babycchino

I imagine this drink has made it around the world but I had never heard of it until we arrived in Brisbane (of course Max wasn't consuming much beyond breastmilk at that time).  It is basically a little warm milk with a lot of froth and a dash of cocoa powder/sugar on top.  Max loves it!  It is a great idea for those parents who don't want to forego trips to the local cafe for a "quiet" cup of coffee on a Saturday morning.  Max, unfortunately, downs his drink in no time and is ready to move on before I have sipped more than half of mine.  Hence, we have started to make our lattes at home.

Grandma & Grandpa Morse's Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Morse visited us for a month. I'll post a few pictures to show the highlights. It was great having them here and seeing them enjoy Max. Max loved having extra playmates this month!

Everyday we had Max give them kisses before his nap and bedtime. Today, after they left, I told him that it was nap time and that we needed to go get key-key (his monkey) and his pacifier. Max started making kissing noises while he looked for Grandma and Grandpa. So sweet. Mommy got a little teary-eyed over that one.

Getting his first "big boy" haircut (Max not Tim)

Building a Sandcastle with Grandpa (Noosa)

Viewpoint from Noosa National Park (we saw a koala in the wild there!)

But not this one...

Wombat at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane (I found that watching a wombat munch on grass is a bit like meditating...it definitely slows your mind...or maybe it's mindnumbing. Not sure. No offense, wally wombat, I really do like you)

Max discovers a love of milkshakes (especially in cups as large as his torso)

Feeding Daddy Ice Cream (Tim wore a "Hitler-esque" mustache after this shot)

Grandma and Max cuddling

I love pictures!  What did people do before they had cameras to document all of those precious moments in life?!  And then to have the instant gratification of the digital camera, to boot! Outstanding!

Christmas Day

Tim bought a Wollemi Pine for our Christmas Tree this year. It is a prehistoric tree native to Australia. It, like our Thanksgiving dinner, has a bit of a Charlie Brown look. Made it easy to decorate.

Max says, "toot toot" every time he sees a train. He's enamored.

Christmas Day was quiet. We had sticky buns and eggnog for breakfast (a Wonhof tradition). Max opened all of the presents. He seemed to know exactly what to do...we just couldn't get him to stop once he started.

A friend from my Mom's Group invited us over for Christmas dinner. We had a lovely turkey dinner. The boys were most excited by all of the airplanes flying overhead. Max learned to say "pay" that night. Now he points and says "pay" everytime he hears a loud noise outside. The evening ended with a game of chase around a pole: it was especially cute because the boys had never really played together before.

Happy New Year!
