Girraween National Park

We went on another backcountry hiking trip in Girraween National Park over the Easter long weekend with our friends Madeleine, Volker and Joschka. We were also able to spend a night with some friends who moved to a town near Girraween National Park. Although the weather didn't cooperate and we had to cut our trip short, we had a great time in another beautiful part of our world.

Lunching on Volker

Just as the rain was starting (poor Max was a bubble boy)

Madeleine with Joschka and Rachel with Maxwell: Traversing the granite

To find the trail on these granite slabs, we had to look for short strips of white paint

In the morning after a good night's sleep...well, maybe not

In the tent for the night: it's not yet 6pm! A little too rainy to be outside.

Max is looking adoringly at his "baya" (pacifier)

A tunnel to climb then slide down

Happy climber

Holding Cicada skins

Knocking on trees to find then catch possums

Astronauts

I've attempted, now and again, to expand Max's interests beyond trains.  One such attempt came late in March when I made some space helmets like the one we saw in a Koala Brothers episode. Max tolerated the helmet briefly then returned to playing with his Thomas trains.  He even became a bit spooked when Malia and Emmanuel took him on their spaceship.
